Fifteen years ago, my sister Lisa put together our 1st family cookbook. In 2010 her daughter Rachel compiled more family recipes and pictures to update & modernize our cookbook - naming this one Cooking Up Family History, guaranteed to sizzle. (Thank you, Rach, for an amazing job!) Several other things came together at the same time:
- I had just laughed through Julie & Julia twice (once with my daughters & once with my mother....),
- My mother snickered (yes, just like the picture!) dislike at a recipe I'd prepared,
- I received Rachel's new cookbook and suddenly realized I hadn't cooked everything in the LAST cookbook....
SO.....I combined all of the above ingredients, simmered it in my mind and concocted this brainy idea: Challenge myself as Julie did to cook our family cookbook in one year! Not being quite as committed as she (or perhaps not committed in the same ways), I have decided that if I can cook 3 recipes a week from the cookbook, I should be finito in one year.
BUT, I will not be the critic.NANA'S THE CRITIC. Nana - meaning my mother - who basically taught me how to cook in the first place. Thus, you will share, as I do, her smile or her snicker.
So...............WHY COOK? because we have to eat.
WHY BLOG ABOUT IT? because it's fun.
WHO CARES? who cares.
Hardy Appetit!
